Over the weekend I headed down to Pell, City Alabama for the Mid-Winter Writers Conference where I was giving two workshops. I had a miserable morning, but then things brightened up quite a bit. Also…I’m such a snob!

Don’t you just love pies? I sure do, and today I have shared a simply delicious Dutch Sugar Cream Pie. In some parts of the country, this is called a “Hoosier Pie.” Whatever you call it, it is divine.

This past weekend we went on a trip to Tennessee to visit with family. I went to a wine tasting at a local winery (more on that later) and then…there was a surprise party!

They know the farmers that supply their ingredients, sourced locally as much as possible, and according to the general manager, Scott Sylva-Mashburn, they make everything in house except the ketchup and mustard….
