According to the official Google blog, Google Reader is going away on July 1st of this year. What does that mean?
Well, if like me you have a list of websites whose feeds you read on a regular basis, you’re going to have to move all of your feeds somewhere else. Google is launching an all new “Google Takeout” as their new offering. However if you want to get away from Google and look at other options, here are a few alternatives.
I’ve never used any of the above services nor do I know anything about them, but am just listing them for your convenience. Another option is to use the RSS Feed Reader in your internet browser. I personally use the Feed option my Internet Explorer. It lets me organize the feeds into groups such as “Foodie Blogs,” “Friends’ Sites,” “Photography” and more. The down side to that, is I have to back it up just like I do my favorites. If my computer were to die, I would lose the list. But I include the feed list and my favorites when I back up my files.
In any case, if you are a reader through Google…be sure to look at your options before July 1st, so you don’t miss any posts from your favorite sites.
