This week, the reading was a lesson in humility. I do tend to be a perfectionist about some things. Now, that doesn’t make me perfect, it just makes me very hard on myself about certain things. Something that I have always been diligent about since I was a child, was that I always wanted to pronounce a word correctly. When I was little, I read lots and lots of books. Any time I came upon a new word, I would look it up in the dictionary so I could know how to pronounce it. I “hear” words in my head as I read, and I couldn’t get past that new word until I knew. Of course, I was also one of those kids that read the dictionary and encyclopedia for entertainment… Because of this, I also had a college level vocabulary when I was in 5th grade.
That said, here is where that humility lesson comes in. This week’s reading includes three chapters of Old Testament genealogy. Countless names I have not encountered and have no idea how to pronounce. So today’s reading may be as painful for you to watch, as it was for me to read…and struggle through speaking.
Turns out I’m human after all :)
Before you begin, always start off with a moment of prayer – that God uses His word to speak to you and reveal whatever He has for you specifically.
These videos are intentionally without commentary. There will be no discussion of doctrines, denominational teachings, opinions or anything else. It is simply reading the bible through in a year.
