Over the weekend I was treated to a sneak peek at a new restaurant in town, Farm Burger.
Farm Burger specializes in fresh food. They know the farmers that supply their ingredients, sourced locally as much as possible, and according to the general manager, Scott Sylva-Mashburn, they make everything in house except the ketchup and mustard.
They have a great variety of things to choose from, and I found it very had to make a selection! From Gouda grits with apple & bacon chutney to sweet potato hush puppies or even chicken pot pie fritters. And then there’s the burgers!
Farm Burger also features a wonderful selection of adult beverages, including wines and several local beers.
After much debate, I finally settled on The Number 1 Farm Burger with aged Vermont white cheddar, caramelized onions and their Farm Burger sauce – paired with some sweet potato fries. The burgers are cooked medium so they are nice and juicy. And let me just say, that was a flipping good burger!
The cattle that this beef comes from are grass fed in Georgia and are never fed any antibiotics or hormones. There’s something to be said about raising your food sources ethically and as close to nature as possible. Frankly, in my opinion happy cows make better beef. (But I’ll save that lecture for another day.)
For dessert, I selected one of their gorgeous milk shakes. Who can say “No” to a Pecan Caramel milkshake? Oh, and speaking of beverages, Farm Burger also offers floats…kid-friendly and adult-only ones like a Coffee Oatmeal Stout or a Chocolate Peanut Porter.
Farm Burger officially opens February 15th, 2016. This is their 7th location and there will be new ones in Nashville and Birmingham later this year.
