I don’t know about you, but I enjoy giving business to people that I know. I especially find that important during the holiday season.
Today I thought I would share just a handful of ideas for your gift-buying this year in reference to “Small Business Saturday.” We all know “Black Friday” with its madness and sales. Saturday has become a focus on small businesses and family owned shops. Then of course Monday is now known as “Cyber Monday” for all of the online shopping that happens that day. I guess this might be a little bit of both.
Of course, you know I have to encourage someone to pay a visit to my shop(s.) There’s my Etsy shop where I sell my aprons.
I even have a couple denim ones in there now.
Then I have my spreadshirt shop where I have fun shirts and other things.
But besides my own shops, I have a few other suggestions that you might like:
Farming Grace – Ann Marie offers homemade soap scented naturally with herbs from her own garden and spices from the kitchen! She also has beeswax candles, and even soap cozies. I recently purchased some Apple Cider and Coffee Mocha soaps!
Next I have another lovely Etsy shop where you can find adorable gifts and custom embroidery – His Work Our Hands
Kimberly is a dear friend and former army wife sister from Alaska.
Speaking of Alaska, here’s a unique gift idea from a family that I know up there. I met them through church and they have a very “Alaska” kind of business, called Sample Alaska. They make Birch Syrup! You can find samplers and all sorts of other neat things on their site.
I’m telling you, Alaska people are creative people. You can find all sorts of great gifts from earrings to essential oil holders and other wood crafts from my friend Miss Bridgit at her shop Personal Space Creations. Everything is made in North Pole, Alaska by her family.
My Army wife friend Becca (who’s husband deemed my Carolina BBQ Sauce “Conni’s Awesome Sauce”) has all sorts of simple pampering bath and skin care products made from more natural ingredients in the USA, at Perfectly Posh.
While taking care of your outside, my friend Janet has some ideas for taking care of the inside. You can find a variety of supplements, cleanses and more from her page at Plexus.
If you have a loved one who loves to cook and bake, I have to say that I still do nearly all of my baking on my Pampered Chef stones that I have had for ages. One of my rectangle stones I’ve had for 19 years, and still going strong. I’m sure you can find all sorts of “foodie” gifts from my friend Lisa.
Speaking of 19 years, 19 years ago I had a neighbor named Michele. She and I had countless long phone chats about everything from politics to religion. We’re still friends and she still represents Mary Kay. If you have a person to shop for that loves beauty related products, you might be able to find some goodies like a Satin Hands set or a travel bag.
For something fun and whimsical, you should check out this young lady’s Instagram account where Keilee features all of her creations. This homeschool girl rocks!
If you know a cookbook fanatic like me, you may be interested in New Market BBQ that is owned by a local-ish BBQ joint here in Northern Alabama. They sell cookbooks, BBQ rub and if you are in the Tennessee Valley, gift cards to their restaurant.
Speaking of good things to eat, I have a couple more suggestions for you…next how about some balls to make you happy? Happylicious that is! My friend Betsy has some goodies that will put a serious smile on your face.
If you are a tea drinker (I have a few of those in my family), then my friend Kathy has every option you can imagine from Apple Crumble to Pina Colada at Steeped Tea.
And last, but not least, I have to tell you that this is the best freaking Granola on Planet Earth. I mean seriously. My dear friend Cat (the one that inspired me to start blogging all those years ago) and her husband Blaine have an adorable bakery in quaint Liberty, Kentucky. But you don’t have to live in the Bluegrass State to enjoy their granola! They offer 4 different kinds—but just go ahead and order the big bags from Staat’s Bakery. Trust me. My husband and I nearly got in a fight over this the first time we got our hands on a bag of it!
Good thing we can order more :)
Wherever you shop this weekend, I encourage you to shop “small.” It’s important to support small businesses, entrepreneurs and their families!
