Our next leg of the trip took us east through northern California and into Nevada. This was the beautiful Trinity River that we followed along Highway 299 for miles and miles.
Coming into Redding, this was definitely not Alaska anymore!
We drove through beautiful tree nut groves and farms and the headed up in elevation into some big mountains – this was passing through the infamous Donner’s Pass.
We stayed the night just barely in Nevada, at an RV park next to a casino. It was really quiet, and actually a pretty mice place to stay! My youngest loved the view of the bright night sky and asked me to take a picture of it.
The climate became drier and rockier as we drove through Nevada.
For miles and miles ahead we saw a massive cloud and thought we were heading towards a wild fire. We were wrong. When we got to the source of the cloud, we discovered it was a massive dust storm!
Up next, Utah!
We no sooner entered Utah, and we found ourselves crossing the famous Bonneville Salt Flats.
We saw this funny tree art thing along the interstate.
We spent the night in Utah, just south of Salt Lake City at a lovely park in Provo. Jennifer enjoyed the sunshine and so did the pups.
Once we passed from the Salt Lake City area, the terrain became absolutely rugged and beautiful!
Up next, Colorado!
