One of the things that I often do to practice my photography and editing skills, is to simply take a bunch of photos and experiment. But what do you do when you want to work on portraits, but don’t have a model handy? You use the one that is….YOU. Or in this case…ME. So the other day I took a number of self portraits, and then sat down to do some editing exercises. Here is a sampling of what I did that day. These are 6 different photos, with some editing in various ways.
The first photo was barely edited at all. The sun flare, haze and color effect was real, I simply brought up the contrast so you could see me.
Here is Photo #2, edited three different ways.
This has a hazy afternoon feel to it.
I think this third one is my favorite version.
Photo #5, with 2 versions. The first has a warm, autumn feel to it.
Second version – My freckles seem to show up more in this one. Did you know I have freckles?
The final photo, cropped two different ways. I love the dramatic feel to this photo.
Well there you go. A whole bunch of photos of me. I encourage you to get out there and take some photos – no matter what the subject is. Stretch yourself in any way you can.
