Autumn is in full swing here in Interior Alaska.
Our church fellowship has small “cell” groups that meet each week in homes. The location alternates between locations, and this particular one was at a home I had not been to before. I was instantly in love with all of the flowers and the gorgeous scenery. I spent several minutes out in their yard taking pictures before even going inside!

When I was a little girl, I called one of my grandfathers “Poppy.” So when I found out that there were flowers named poppies, I thought they were named after my grandfather. Poppies held a special place in my heart ever since.
Back to the gold birches.
It kind of gives another perspective to Fairbanks’ nickname of “Golden Heart City”
