Over the weekend I headed down to Pell, City Alabama for the Mid-Winter Writers Conference where I was giving two workshops. I had a miserable morning, but then things brightened up quite a bit. Also…I’m such a snob!
Don’t you just love pies? I sure do, and today I have shared a simply delicious Dutch Sugar Cream Pie. In some parts of the country, this is called a “Hoosier Pie.” Whatever you call it, it is divine.

This past weekend we went on a trip to Tennessee to visit with family. I went to a wine tasting at a local winery (more on that later) and then…there was a surprise party!
There’s something to be said about old-fashioned recipes like this Amish Ham Salad. And there’s a reason they have been around so long. They are delicious in their classic simplicity.
