Friday we began the kick off for this year’s Rocket City Food Bloggers Tour for Restaurant Week.
What is Restaurant Week?
It’s a special event featuring many participating restaurants around town – over 60 of them this year! – from food trucks to fine dining. Each restaurant will be offering special deals – lunch or dinner – at special prices. Lunches will have a set price of either $5, $10 or $15 and will include a main course and a dessert or an appetizer. For dinner, the price points will be $10, $20 or $30 and will include a main course, an appetizer and a dessert. This year there is also an additional “Bites” category for establishments that don’t offer traditional meals, such as Pizzelle’s Confections.
This special event will go on from August 14th until the 23rd.
Our first stop on the tour was LawLers Barbecue in Madison, Alabama.
LawLers offers delicious barbecue and all of the goodies you can imagine that go with it.
I ordered one of their most popular items – the “Stuffie Tater.” A huge baked potato stuffed with barbecued pork, sour cream, chives and cheese. I also grabbed a little dish of their baked beans and a slice of Chocolate Cream Pie.
In the mood for nachos? How about barbecued nachos?
LawLers even offers vacuum sealed pouches of their pulled pork, turkey or ham that you can purchase for serving at home or even freeze for future quick meals.
Our gracious hostess April, and manager Jay.
And as if the awesome lunch wasn’t enough – they sent us home with goodie bags! Thank you so much LawLers for your Southern Hospitality!
But before I wrap this up, let me introduce you to my fellow blogging friends from the tour!
From left to right – Jessica (IHeartHSV), yours truly, Sarah (The Jealous Crumpet), Katie (Katie Actually), April our hostess, Stephanie (Rocket City Mom), Christy (Christy Jordan’s Southern Plate) and Phillip from Nashville (Southern FATTY). Not pictured here because he hadn’t quite arrived from his long trip from Memphis yet, was Clint (Grillocracy)
I can’t forget to mention Tasty the spokespig!
Of course I had to get selfies with all of my lunch companions. And even though Clint is “anti-selfie” he was kind enough to make an exception for me. He even smiled when I told him he could scowl at the camera if he liked!
Stay tuned for the next segment of the Rocket City Food Blogger Tour …

We’re a fine lookin bunch! It is probably dangerous that I live walking distance from LawLer’s. The food is too good!
LOL!
I could (will.) eat that white sauce on everything!
OH! I totally forgot to mention that white sauce! I had never had it before and I loved it too! I know it is supposed to be for poultry but let me tell you, it tasted dang good on my pulled pork potato!
