Yesterday my friend c.a. and I headed to Franklin, Tennessee – a beautiful town just southwest of Nashville.
We spent a wonderful day exploring the shops and seeing the sights. Of course we had to stop some where for lunch, and chose McCreary’s Irish Pub & Eatery. We had just beat the rush as the restaurant was filling up quickly for the lunch time crowd.
c.a. and I went over the menu and ended up ordering the exact same thing. Bangers & Mash which came with the nice salad you see here.
The Bangers & Mash, a traditional Irish peasant dish, was three chicken sausages stuffed with tomato basil mozzarella, served with rustic mashed potatoes and homemade Irish soda bread with a dish of spicy mustard.
To round out our meal, c.a. and I split an order of their rustic bread pudding which was topped with a Bailey’s Irish Creme sauce.
The atmosphere was simple and down to earth. There was classic 80’s music playing in the background, subtle and not so loud that you couldn’t carry on a conversation with your companions. There were a couple tv’s on the wall with new being aired, but those too, were turned down so as not to impede. The walls were adorned with a quote from St. Patrick, and the whole place had a classic “pub” feel to it. The staff was friendly and attentive. The food was amazing.
