To begin, preheat your oven to 400 degrees.

In a dish, whisk together an egg and a tablespoon of water, until frothy. Set it aside.

Lay a sheet of puff pastry dough on a lightly floured surface and cut it into 9 squares. A pizza cutter is handy for this.

Place a spoonful of Nutella in the middle.

Brush a little egg wash on the edges around the Nutella and fold closed. Press the edges together.

Brush the top with egg wash.

And sprinkle about a half teaspoon of demerera/raw sugar on top.

Repeat the process with all of the squares and place them on a baking sheet.

Bake 10-13 minutes, or until golden.

  • 1 egg
  • 1 Tb water
  • 1 sheet puff pastry dough, thawed
  • flour for dusting
  • 9 Tb Nutella, or similar chocolate nut spread, divided
  • 4 ½ teaspoon demerera sugar, divided
