I absolutely love using mason jars for storage in my pantry and cabinets.
I use my label maker to make labels for the jars, unless their contents are clearly identifiable…like chocolate chips.
There are several reasons that I love to use mason jars.
#1 – They are clear, so I can see at a glance if I am low on something…when I am planning my shopping list.
#2 – They are airtight, water tight, and BUG-PROOF. If you’ve ever gone through an ant infestation, you’ll learn really fast the benefits of ant-proof food storage.
#3 – They are cheap and durable.
#4 – They come in a variety of sizes.
When I store things that might have cooking instructions like beans or oatmeal or couscous, I just cut the directions from the label or bag, and tape it to the jar.
