These easy nachos are actually the very first recipe I ever “made up” as a newlywed and new cook. It was a hit back then, and to this day it is a favorite recipe.

To Make This Recipe You Will Need:

  • ground beef
  • onion powder
  • taco seasoning (see my recipe for homemade here.)
  • salsa
  • refried beans
  • shredded cheese
  • nacho chips
  • guacamole
  • sour cream
  • shredded lettuce
  • oven safe skillet (mine is a 10 inch cast iron)
  • wooden spoon or other utensil

I have made these nachos with a variety of different ground meat: beef, turkey, bison and even ground moose meat. Most often though, we have it with classic ground beef.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 3 Tb taco seasoning
  • 28 ounces refried beans, black bean preferred
  • 1 cup salsa
  • 8 oz. shredded cheddar cheese

For Serving

  • tortilla chips
  • sour cream
  • guacamole
  • shredded lettuce

Instructions
 

  • To begin, preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  • Cook the ground beef and onion powder together in an oven-safe skillet until completely cooked through.
  • Reduce the heat to low, and stir in the taco seasoning. Stir in the refried beans and the salsa.
  • Spread the mixture evenly in the skillet and sprinkle on the shredded cheese.
  • Slide the skillet into the oven and bake it for about 10 minutes or until the cheese is fully melted.
  • Serve with tortilla chips, sour cream, guacamole, or other toppings of your choice.

Notes

Serve the nachos with your favorite toppings.
This can also be put inside a tortilla as another option.
