These Quick Skillet Nachos make a great weeknight supper for a Fun Friday or any other day of the week!

These easy nachos are actually the very first recipe I ever “made up” as a newlywed and new cook. It was a hit back then, and to this day it is a favorite recipe.

To Make This Recipe You Will Need:

  • ground beef
  • onion powder
  • taco seasoning (see my recipe for homemade here.)
  • salsa
  • refried beans
  • shredded cheese
  • nacho chips
  • guacamole
  • sour cream
  • shredded lettuce
  • oven safe skillet (mine is a 10 inch cast iron)
  • wooden spoon or other utensil

I have made these nachos with a variety of different ground meat: beef, turkey, bison, and even ground moose meat. Most often though, we have it with classic ground beef.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 3 Tb taco seasoning
  • 28 oz refried beans, vegetarian (see note)
  • 1 c salsa
  • 8 oz shredded cheddar cheese

For Serving

  • tortilla chips
  • sour cream
  • guacamole
  • shredded lettuce

Instructions

  • To begin, preheat the oven to 350°F.
  • Cook the ground beef and onion powder together in an oven-safe skillet until completely cooked through.
  • Reduce the heat to low and stir in the taco seasoning. Stir in the refried beans and the salsa.
  • Spread the mixture evenly in the skillet and sprinkle on the shredded cheese.
  • Slide the skillet into the oven and bake it for about 10 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted.
  • Serve with tortilla chips, sour cream, guacamole, or other toppings of your choice.

Notes

Serve the nachos with your favorite toppings.
This can also be put inside a tortilla as another option.
Refried Beans: I now use vegetarian refried beans to be biblically clean, as most traditional ones have pork in them.
