Back in June, I was heading to bed one night and one of the things I do right before I go to bed, is “clear” my social media notifications. Well, I glanced at twitter, and lo and behold, there was mention of a “blogger meet and greet” the next day in Huntsville, by these people called the “Rocket City Bloggers.” Intrigued, I went back to my computer to get more information, and I was so glad I did. Being brand spanking new to Huntsville (I’d only been in town 2 weeks at that point) I was excited to be able to maybe make some local connections and make some friends in my new “home town.”
It was hosted by the Huntsville-Madison Visitor’s Bureau downtown, and that is where it was held.
There was great food and drinks provided, and bloggers of every variety imaginable.
I did make some great connections that day, and new friends. Since then, I’ve attended nearly every month’s “bloggle” that the RCB has put on.
The great news?
If you are in the Tennessee Valley area, you can mark your calendar and come to another great RCB event in Downtown Huntsville!
16 Jan 2014, 5:30 pm
AL.com building, on Westside Square.
There will be food and drink provided by Downtown Huntsville Inc. and there will be some great door prizes… including one donated by me!
It will be a great opportunity…
- for local business to connect to established bloggers and brain storm how those in social media and businesses can be an asset to one another.
- to showcase downtown Huntsville
- for new bloggers or the blogging curious to meet “the pros” and get tips and ideas, and network.
Follow the twitter discussion with #RCBSocial as well on Facebook
The man named Ray Leyden, Jr. parked on the square in Downtown Huntsville and wondered whether it was worth it to even get out of the car. He’d been to these kinds of things before, these meet-n-greets as they called them, and they never panned out. Yet his friends had said these folks were different, easy-going, friendly. According to the flyer on his passenger seat they were having one these get-togethers tonight, at 5:30, with food from The Eaves, beer from the Brew Stooges, open to the public at the newly renovated al.com building downtown.
Wow, Ray thought…. Continue the journey at HuntsvilleHashtag.com
