This week I had the pleasure of attending the soft opening of Yoshi Sushi Fusion. It is located “over the hill” from Huntsville in the Owen’s Cross Roads area.
I have to admit, I arrived ridiculously early. Now that I live in the Hartselle area, it is a bit of a drive for me over to Owen’s Cross Roads, and I never quite know how traffic is going to be during rush hour. My mama trained me to never, ever be late, so I always try to be early. Better 10 minutes early than 1 minute late!
As I arrived, what looked to be a big storm was rolling in so I headed in the door a bit early. I was greeted by these two smiling faces.
I was seated at a spacious booth and given the drink menu and special event menu for the day. While I was there, I was listening to the last minute training that the staff was getting just before the official start of their practice run. I really appreciated getting to hear the descriptions of all the dishes and beverages being served.
One of the drink names that caught my attention was the Pomegranate Sake Mojito. Which I made certain to order from my server, Vincent. Mmmm….
I started off my meal with their miso soup. I loved the delicate flavor. It was the perfect thing to whet my appetite.
After I had my soup, I walked around and took in the scenery and goings-on.
The restaurant was quickly filling up, and everyone was enjoying themselves.
My next dish was their Brussels sprouts with lemon juice, sea salt, lemongrass and togarashi. These were absolutely divine.
The third dish that I was treated to, was something that seriously took me out of my comfort zone. But I have to say, I’m glad I was challenged, because this Tokyo Nacho (smoked yellow-fin tuna on yam chips) was impressive and may have won me over to the sushi camp.
Now as you can guess, I am not a big sushi fanatic. Thus my unnecessary hesitation on the last dish – but Yoshi Sushi Fushion has a menu category for wimps like me – called the “Kitchen Tasting.” The items in this section are for the family members who aren’t on the sushi train. So if your family is like my own, and can’t agree then you definitely are more than able to find something on the menu to please everyone. I had their Teriyaki Steak, and let me tell you something. I have never in my life had a piece of steak this tender. Ever.
Everything that I had at Yoshi Sushi Fusion was delicious. I found that I had to make a point to not finish each dish, because I wouldn’t have room for the next thing. But you can be certain that I ate every piece of that crazy good steak!
This restaurant also has the title of the only restaurant in the Huntsville area to serve Wagyu – the finest Japanese beef.
