Smoked Paprika Roasted Chicken is as flavorful as it is beautiful.
If you have never used smoked paprika, you have no idea what you are missing. When you use it for the first time, you’ll wonder where it’s been all your life. And then you’ll look for excuses to use it all the time!
To begin, preheat your oven to 325 degrees.
In a small dish, combine 2 tablespoons of smoked paprika, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1 teaspoon of fine sea salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper.
Add in 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil. Whisk these together until they form a paste.
Prepare your whole chicken by removing the “giblets,” rinse with cold water, and dry it with paper towels. Place the chicken in your roasting pan. Using kitchen twine, tie the legs together.
Spread the gorgeous paste all over the chicken, using your hands.
Slather it all over.
Here’s a photo I shared of this beauty going into the oven a couple weeks ago on Instagram.
Bake it uncovered for about 1 hour 20 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160 degrees in the thickest part of the breast. But you aren’t quite done.
After you put it in the oven, combine 1/4 cup of honey and the juice of a lemon in a small saucepan. Melt them together over low heat. When they combine, turn off the stove eye. After the chicken has baked for half an hour, ever so gently baste it with part of the glaze. Continue baking and repeat this every 15 minutes until the chicken has reached its completed temperature.
Just look at this glorious bird.
Enjoy!
