You will absolutely love this homemade hot cocoa. Mixes and powders can’t hold a candle to the real deal.

Then curl up with a good book, or your favorite holiday movie, and enjoy a precious moment to yourself.

Turtle Hot Chocolate Version

My father’s favorite candy, for as long as I can remember, has always been “turtles.” You know those chocolate covered caramel & pecan treats? I’ve always like them myself and this recipe is a way to enjoy those flavors in the form of a warm, cozy drink.

There’s nothing like a cup of hot chocolate on a cold, wintery day. Wouldn’t you agree? If that is the case, this Turtle Hot Chocolate is sure to be your new favorite.

This time of year, I always see an abundance of the sweetened condensed milk cans on sale at the grocery store. They get used for everything from fudge to bars.

In recent years, I have been finding flavored ones every holiday season. This particular recipe uses caramel sweetened condensed milk. For the “turtle” version simply substitute the caramel flavored s.c.m. for traditional.

If you can’t find the caramel version of the sweetened condensed milk in your area, no worries! Make this with a can of the regular, unflavored sweetened condensed milk and stir a spoonful of dulce de leche or caramel syrup into your mug of hot chocolate.

Caramel Mocha Hot Chocolate Recipe:

For a “Caramel Mocha” flavored cocoa, make the “turtle” version above, and stir 2 tablespoons of instant espresso into the saucepan with the rest of the ingredients.
