On day 5 of 18 days of driving, our destination was Mitchell, South Dakota.
First, a stop in Blue Earth, MN to visit with a jolly old soul.
And then we saw lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots … of this.
Cows, Corn and Wind Turbines.
Then we arrived here.
Oh wait!!! It’s a…. it’s a…. oh nevermind. Another cornfield.
Okay, this was creepy. A sculpture park along the interstate.
Oh look!!! Nope, another cornfield.
And a neat sign.
Then we arrived in Mitchell, South Dakota. We set up at a nice campground, and Jennifer and I went into town. The boys didn’t want to go. They didn’t know what they were missing!
Like riding a jackrabbit!
And visiting The Corn Palace!
The whole thing is decorated annually with ….. you guessed it. Corn!
Each year it is a different theme. This year….see if you can guess.
The inside is just as corny. Hehehe.
There are many pictures of the palace over the years. It started in 1892. Check out the people and the vehicles.
It was really neat. Outside, corn is a big deal too. It is on every street sign and light post.
And on to the next leg of our journey!
