An absolute delight, these Homemade Classic Waffles are masterfully crafted from a treasured recipe. With fluffy, cloud-like centers with crisp, golden edges, your family will find these irresistible!

Before I go into the recipe, I remembered a funny little story involving waffles that I wanted to share.

Many years ago, when we lived in Germany, I was babysitting a friend’s little girl. They had some sort of very-early-in-the-morning appointment, so she just spent the night and stayed with my little girl.

The next morning, they got up and I decided to make them waffles for breakfast. The little girl was so excited for waffles!

Our kitchen, at the time, had an open area that looked from the dining room into the kitchen, and I had a little picnic table sitting there that my kids would stand on and talk to me while I was cooking.

Jennifer and this little girl climbed on the bench to watch me prepare the waffles…when the little girl curled up her nose and said, “That’s not how my mom makes waffles.” She kind of pulled back and made this face like, “What on earth is THAT!”

I looked at her and thought a moment. Then I said, “Does your mommy’s waffles come out of the freezer?”

She looked at me and nodded her head. Eggos!

When I pulled the first waffle from the waffle iron, she exclaimed, “They really are waffles!”

Thankfully my waffles met the approval of her discerning taste buds.

  1. I am so glad that you mentioned freezing these. I make a double batch and keep them in the freezer for a quick breakfast for the family. And why didn’t I think of reheating waffles in the toaster before!? They are so much better than nuking!!!!!
