No need to purchase separate brown sugar at the store. Just make it yourself!

I’ve been making my own brown sugar for years. I think it has a better flavor and works beautifully in recipes!
How to Make Brown Sugar
To make your own brown sugar you will need:
- granulated sugar
- molasses (blackstrap)
- measuring cup
- mixer & bowl
To make the brown sugar, you will measure your 2 simple ingredients with an 8:1 ratio – 8 parts granulated sugar + 1 part molasses. For example:
8 cups granulated sugar + 1 cup molasses
4 cups granulated sugar + 1/2 c molasses
Or any variation of the ratio of ingredients, depending upon how much you need.
Combine the sugar and molasses in your mixing bowl.
Mix until you have a thoroughly consistent color all throughout the sugar.
You’re done!
For a lighter version of brown sugar, increase the sugar in the ratio, such as a 9:1 or 10:1.
For a darker version, lower the sugar in the ratio, such as 6:1 or 7:1, according to taste and what you need.
The 8:1 ratio is my all-purpose version and I use it for all the recipes I make that need brown sugar, no matter what kind it calls for.
Thanks for this recipe Constance.
If I might give you a suggestion for your “bobblehead” problem…
When tools are used frequently, like appliances or pew pews, screws come undone at the worst times…lol
There is a product I use for my big pews pews so the screws don’t get wobbly.
Loctite Threadlocker Blue 242.
You can get it on amazon for under $10.
If you ever need to replace the screw/bolt, it is easily done with standard tools.
Hope this help.

They have a red version that is a forever and ever product that can only be removed by using temperatures of 500 degrees.
Thank you! That is a great tip!
