This Orange Syrup is simple to make and the flavor of the fresh oranges is simply irresistible!
How to Make this Recipe:
To begin, zest one of the oranges into a sauce pan.
Juice both oranges through a sieve into the pan.
Add in the water and sugar.
Bring it all to a gentle boil, reduce the heat, and simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until the liquid has reduced by about a third.
Allow the syrup to cool to room temperature and use as you like. I store mine in some simple glass bottles to make pouring easy.
Store any unused syrup in the refrigerator. It will stay good up to a month.

I tried this. Live the simplicity of it however the orange flavor isn’t as strong as I’d like. I will increase the amount of oranges next time. Also, we don’t eat sugar so I used maple syrup instead and it worked out perfect. Thank you for sharing this recipe.
Can this be canned for gift giving?
I added the zest of 1.5 oranges and the juice of 3 oranges. Enhanced the orange flavour for what will be it’s intended use. I also added 1 cinneman stick. Didn’t overpower it, just gived it a little twist.
This worked out so nicely with a few blood oranges that needed used up. The syrup was great on our tembleque, gracias 😊
Helpful way to use up the 8 Clemmies I squeezed for another dish.

Love the orange syrup. Can’t wait to try it. Wondering if this method would work for a lemon syrup? Any ideas?
Absolutely!
Has anyone ever tried this one with a reduced amount of sugar? Curious if it would still work with, say, half the added sugar
You can absolutely reduce the sugar!
Can this be processed for long term storage? Pressure or water bath?
I’ve honestly never thought of canning it. I couldn’t tell you either way
Can this fresh orange syrup be stored?
It will last about 2 weeks in the refrigerator.
It can be stored by canning or freezing.
