Don’t struggle to chop onions, learn to do it with this simple tutorial on how to dice an onion the easy way.
There are lots of methods out there for chopping up onions, but I think this is the easiest way to do so. Every time I share this technique with someone, they say they wish they had known about this all along!
Whether you need a very fine dice, or a rough-chopped onion, this way of dicing an onion will work for you.

I usually leave the outer layer still attached at the root end it makes for holding the onion so much easier and safer.

Thank you for your very informative video. Not only does it look easier than I have diced but will save time as well. Thanks again
Constance, thank you so much for your practical posts. I love to read your blog and go to it first each morning with my coffee. I have learned sooo much from you and every recipe I have tried has been great! I have actually followed you for about 5 years all the way back on Homestead Blogger. LOL Keep up the great work you do!
Thank you so much Mona!! I remember you from HSB!
I've heard that freezing an onion before cutting it up helps it not to sting your eyes. Have you ever tried that? My eyes are very sensitive!
I haven't tried it, but I think if you freeze the onion, it will turn to mush when it thaws. Honestly the only thing that has worked for me, is the fact that I wear contacts. When I cut onions in my glasses, my eyes burn. When I am wearing contacts, they don't. I have *heard* that holding a toothpick in your mouth while you cut actually helps (have heard it repeatedly) but I have never tried it.
