Making your own foaming hand soap is a great way to save money and is extremely simple to do.

I for one love foaming hand soaps, but I don’t love paying the price of most of them out there.
This homemade foaming hand soap utilizes some of those same basic ingredients that I have used in countless other cleaning and homemaking recipes, like Homemade (DIY) Disinfecting Wipes or Homemade Fabric & Upholstery Deodorizing Spray
This hand soap costs about a quarter of the pre-made kinds and I’ve also found that it doesn’t dry my skin out as much as other soaps tend to.
What you need to make your foaming hand soap:
- 1 ½ c water
- ½ c pure castile liquid soap
- 10 drops essential oil
- 16 oz. foaming soap bottle
Instructions:
To make your hand soap, simply combine the ingredients in the bottle and invert it a few times to mix the ingredients.
Note: You do not have to purchase a new foaming soap bottle to make this soap. Simply rinse out and re-use one you already have. If the bottle is a different size, just adjust the amount of soap solution that you make.
Remember, the ratio is 3 parts water to 1 part castile soap. Adjust the oils as you like.
Which Essential Oils Should You Use?
The essential oils that you use can really be up to you.
During cold and flu season, my go-to is tea tree oil or a blend of tea tree, lavender and eucalyptus.
I like using lemon or citrus essential oil for hand soap in my kitchen. In the bathroom I may use lavender, or peppermint during the holidays. Have fun experimenting with different oils to create your own fragrance blends.

Just felt led to reach out with encouragement: I grew up in Arkansas, (still have family there) now reside in Huntsville, Alabama. (please dont repeat that they might find me! :) ) I truly enjoyed your serious talk up on the mountain. So relevant today. A couple of years ago we began transitioning to a more Torah life. found your YouTube and discovered you were about to move. So your moving on up! So much to learn, or maybe even put aside. I am a sewer/quilter. Pretty fair. I love your home helps, and while I cant keep up with your pace, I am so grateful for your efforts!!!! I am finally learning to cook. (slowly learning) Married 46 years and hated cooking! (So did He, ~ smiles~) Dont care for tatoos, nor my own hair style or dress size! So many things I wish I could have done better. However; Jesus saved us even while we were yet sinners. Becoming more Christlike is whats important. Haters should remember for every finger they point, 3 more are pointed back at themselves. Keep up your good work and continue to Praise Our LORD! Shalom
